Statement of the Azarbaijan Movement on the death of Bahram Khan Mirlashari
The movement mourns Bahram Khan Mirlashari as a patriot whose counsel, it says, helped give protests in Baluchestan a national and Iran-loving voice.
Compatriots, free and noble Iranians of the land of Iran,
Today we are in mourning. We mourn a patriotic man, a fighter and a freedom-seeker, a man who gave his whole life to the fight against darkness, and whose whole effort was for the freedom of Iran from despotism, lies, and injustice.
What young Iranians and adolescents should know about the late Bahram Khan Mirlashari is this.
Young Iranians, girls and boys of Iran, you whose hearts beat for Iran:
If in past years you have seen protests in Baluchestan take on a nationalist color, a great part of that was because of Bahram Khan’s guidance and actions.
If you saw Baluch youth shout national and Iran-loving slogans, it was because of the existence and the thought of great figures such as Bahram Khan.
If you saw Baluch youth write “Javid Shah” on the walls of alleys and streets in Zahedan, it was because of Bahram Khan’s labor.
If you saw Baluch youth lay down their lives, and, together with the other youth of the land of Iran and side by side with their compatriots across Iran, shout one single demand, it was because of Bahram Khan’s guidance, counsel, and even his orders.
If you heard the comrades of Khodanour shout “from Zahedan to Tehran, my life for Iran,” it was because of the men and women who followed Bahram Khan Mirlashari and his noble ancestors, the great commanders of Iran and of Baluchestan.
Compatriots, some of you may be hearing his name for the first time. Know, be aware, and record it in history: Bahram Khan Mirlashari stood, like a father, as a support behind the Iranian nation. He always supported all of you, Iranian freedom-seekers in every corner of our dear country, even when you yourselves did not know him.
The Azarbaijan Movement writes these few sentences in description of this great man so that everyone may be aware: Bahram Khan considered every part of Iran his own domain. He was not only a Baluch khan. He was a soldier and a commander of Iran.
The Azarbaijan Movement for Democracy and Integrity of Iran first offers condolences on the death of the late Bahram Khan Mirlashari to the secretary-general of the Azarbaijan Movement, Lohrasb Khan Shahsevan, who had made a pact of brotherhood with him and who, from the weight of grief, cannot compose the statement himself. It then offers condolences to the great and single nation of Iran, and especially to our compatriots in dear Baluchestan.
In the end we ask you to have faith that his road will continue until Iran is completely free.
Long live Iran.
M. A., deputy secretary-general of the Azarbaijan Movement
